The critical analysis of knowledge in the field of biogeochemistry of microelements highlighted numerous specific research directions and that an integrated research program for the biogeochemistry of microelements at the level of ecosystem complexes is necessary. The implementation of such a research program in Romania and, in this way, the connection to the European networks is limited by the quality of the research infrastructure available in this field at the present time, which hardly allows obtaining massive data sets that allow an indispensable mathematical modeling modern approaches.
In this context, the project proposes the following objectives:
Increasing the technical capacity of the consortium of laboratories for the characterization and mathematical modeling of microelement biogeochemistry
The organization of laboratories in the perspective of increasing the area of determinations, the flow of samples
Verification of the operation of the consortium of laboratories and dissemination
The project directly supports the development of all studies related to metal pollution and microelement deficiency. The proposal falls within the CD priority area 10.2 Chemistry, environment and indirectly supports areas 3.3 Protection and ecological reconstruction of critical areas (through connection with the problem of heavy metal pollution).
